Iowa Now Known For More Than Just Corn

Yesterday Iowa's Supreme Court legalized gay marriage in a unanimous and emphatic decision that makes Iowa now the third state (Massachusetts and Connecticut are the other two) — and first in the nation's heartland — to allow same-sex couples to wed. California's high court also allowed gay marriage before prejudice and ignorant voters banned it last November. Now it's up to the California's Supreme Court to decide the fate of gay marriage in the state. Back to Iowa, this decision is a landmark decision and will be very instrumental in helping to get other states to also allow gay marriage. Before when it was just states like Massachusetts, Connecticut, and California that allowed gay marriage then it could have easily been perceived as extremism on the coast and not related to American core values, but now with a state like Iowa (which is mostly rural may I remind you) giving the okay, gay marriage can now be looked upon as being broadly accepted. Times are definitely changing for the better for same-sex couples and I really hope that California's Supreme court does the right thing and gives same-sex couples their rights back.
