Long Live The King

Today was still very weird, knowing that Michael Jackson was really gone and it wasn't just a bad dream. I cried a little more today, though not as much. I take comfort knowing that at least he's finally free from the persecution and heartaches he faced here on Earth. It is so weird to cry for someone you've never met, it's an experience like non other. It was like losing a member of your family. For as long as I can remember there has always been Michael Jackson and his music for me.

My mom has video recordings of me when I was 4 and 5 dancing to "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" in front of the TV screen and trying to moonwalk. He was one of my idols, as well as my first celebrity crush lol. He's a major part of Black Culture, as well as American and Pop Culture. There is no corner on this planet where he or his music isn't known. There is no question that his talent was truly a gift from God, and it is obvious that he was born to be an artist.

His death marks the end of an era and it's sad. It feels empty. His moves, his essence, his legacy, and most importantly, his music and what he tried to teach us through it ,will live on. Music, MTV, and pop culture wouldn't be nearly as good as it is today if he had never been here. He also broke down racial barriers and through his music and showed people that it was okay to reach out to people different than you. He was a true humanitarian well before Angelina Jolie and Sean Penn.

The outpouring of grief for his passing and praise of his work and life by fans, friends, as well as other celebrities, has been overwhelming. Even the House of Representative had a moment of silence in his honor before their session today. He has definitely left his mark on this world. There will never be another Michael Jackson or anyone would can even come close in comparison. He will forever live on in our hearts and I am truly thankful for what he's given us.

Let us dream of a tomorrow where we can truly love from the soul, and know love as the ultimate truth at the heart of all creation.-Michael Jackson
